Winners in the long run.
Despite my initial shock and disgust of "We Are the Winners," I quickly came around to liking it very much—even while many of my friends in diaspora were still complaining about why inCulto's "Welcome" wasn't representing Lithuania at Eurovision—and I have since covered the song in some detail. As I wrote back in April:
The goal of LT United, seemingly, is obviously to win, but winning doesn't mean Lithuania makes great pop; it means more simply that Lithuania is a functioning member of the European community, contributing and competing in everything, on a par along with the rest of the EU nations. The nationalism of LT United takes a step back (in comparison to "Welcome"), and what remains important is unity... But that unity is very importantly limited not just to the form of the nation. LT United glorifies unity as such, either the unity of a team, of a group, of a nation, of a class, or of the world in and of itself. Here Vee's words are especially valuable: "Chantons la même chanson." We are all singing the same song. This is a much more palatable politics, then, which makes "We Are the Winners," aesthetic concerns aside, a better candidate for Eurovision, and a better reflection of Lithuania.
Well, the song has completely blown up. As Lietuvos rytas writes today, it's now platinum in Lithuania (5000 copies sold), reaching a status previously reserved for such classics as Skamp's "Mūsų dienos kaip šventė" and Marijono "Trys milijonai." By the way, of course, this means that Marijonas and Vee are the first Lithuanian artists with multiple platinum records. Robbie Williams covered the song in a concert in Belgium, and the single is available in other nations in Europe. Not too bad for a ditty that was considered in the Swedish press to be a violation of the human rights of the listener.

On the flip, I'll have some more images of what platinum looks like.

This first clip is of LT United in rehearsal. They are either hungover or on  'luudes. Or both. Very amusing.

Next, this is proof positive of the song's total explosion. Even the youth of tomorrow is already hooked on the antics of LT United!

So there you have it. Not too shabby.
