3216241268_4cb1b8e006_mKeeping the core of the Inculto rhythm section intact, Jurgis Didžiulis has added a heavy synth profile for a new band, TWNKL. The sound is very removed from Inculto, which is saying quite a bit, considering how genre-bending Inculto was in Marijos žemės superhitai, an album I still haven’t come around to reviewing here. So imagine pounding four-on-the-floor rhythms with a searing guitar and heavily filtered (that is to say, endlessly entertaining) synthesizers. Or imagine “It Must Rock” covered by Franz Ferdinand and a bank of Rolands. I don’t know. Just download the EP for free from 15min.lt (available in .wav, 320 .mp3,  and 192 .mp3) and think of your own set of three attributes.

A band designed primarily for live performance, TWNKL will only be available to us not in Lithuania via these digital files. All the same, Didžiulis leaves us with an “all steak, no sizzle” manifesto of sorts:

TWNKL nusispjauti ant dekoracijų, išvaizdos, įvaizdžio, socialinių sluoksnių, amžiaus ar kitų stereotipų… Mūsų kūrybos esmė slypi paprastume. Visa tai, ką darome, darome dėl savęs ir dėl žmonių, kuriems rūpi muzika ir tiktai ji.
